COGAT Testing is Coming to CCUSD- March 17-21

As part of our ongoing efforts to assess and support the academic growth of our students, Cave Creek Unified School District is planning to administer the Cognitive Abilities Test (COGAT) from March 17-21 to all second grade students. The COGAT is a standardized assessment designed to measure students' cognitive abilities in various areas including verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning.

If you would like your child to not participate in this testing, please contact Mr. Owsley and let him know in writing so that we may have a different assignment prepared for them while their peers are testing. If you have any questions about this assessment please contact our gifted teacher, Mrs. Perko, sperko@ccusd93.net for more information on the assessment or our gifted programming in CCUSD.

I am thrilled to share some exciting news about a brand-new event coming to our school! On March 29, 2025, from 5:30pm - 8:00pm, we will be hosting Bobcat Fest! This will be a vibrant, family-friendly evening filled with live music, inflatables, activities, and a strong sense of community—all in support of BMES.

This event is more than just a celebration—it’s also our spring fundraiser, providing critical funding for programs that directly benefit our students. While our students enjoy Music, Art, and PE through district support, Drama and Dance are funded by our PTO. Thanks to the generosity of our families, local businesses, and community partners, we have been able to provide these unique opportunities for years—but we need your help to keep them going.

How You Can Get Involved:

  • Attend the event - wristbands are now on sale: https://bmespto.org/product-category/event-tickets/
  • Consider becoming a sponsor or encourage local businesses you know to support this event. We have several sponsorship opportunities available that offer great exposure while directly supporting our students.
  • Spread the word! The more our community comes together, the more impactful this event will be for our school.

We are so grateful for the ongoing support of our families, and I hope you will join us for this incredible event. Whether you attend, volunteer, or become a sponsor, your involvement makes a direct impact on our students' educational experience.

If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring Bobcat Fest, please reach out to our PTO at blackmountainpto93@gmail.com for more information.

I look forward to seeing you all there for what promises to be a fun, memorable, and meaningful evening for our school community!
